Statement from the BBG on the resignation of Pedro Roig, director of the Office of Cuba Broadcasting
The Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) has accepted, with regret, the resignation of Pedro Roig, who has served for over seven years as director of the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (OCB). The Board thanks Pedro for his leadership of Radio and TV Marti shepherding program and technological advances as well as constructive cooperative efforts with the Voice of America. The Board is especially grateful to Pedro for agreeing to postpone his retirement in order to facilitate a smooth transition at OCB.
“Pedro is a distinguished public servant and a wise historian,” observed Board Chairman Walter Isaacson. “In these early days of the new Board’s tenure, we will benefit from his guidance and expertise, just as OCB will benefit from his continued leadership during the transition. I know I speak for the full Board in congratulating him on his many years of service and for the skill, insight, and compassion that he has brought to his office.”
