Iranian Parazit Fans Throw Viewing Party
Fans of the Voice of America’s Persian News Network’s satirical program Parazit got together for a “Parazit Party” in Iran.
It’s no wonder Parazit now has more than 170,000 Facebook fans, up from 110,000 just a couple of months ago.
The show offers biting humor not found elsewhere in Iran. In one recent episode, host Kambiz Hosseini, and show co-creator Saman Arbabi, pointed their satirical spotlight at Iran’s Ministry of Culture and its decision to publicly endorse a sword-shaped “Islamic Necktie” designed by an Iranian tie maker.
The show is also being noticed everywhere. Public Radio International’s program “The World” broadcast a feature on Parazit on Dec. 1 and titled it “Iran’s Daily Show.”
