Sen. Flake Discusses State of the Union Address on Alhurra
In an interview with Alhurra TV, Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) said that it is tough to watch the Syrians get killed. He also said the US will eventually have a larger role in Syria, “as events unfold and things change there, we may have to change our posture.”
On Afghanistan, Sen. Flake said that, “the Afghans are more ready than we all thought they would be at this stage, so I think that the timeline outlined is a good one, and I hope that they stick to it.”
Alhurra TV’s interview with Sen. Flake was part of the channel’s State of the Union coverage. Alhurra provided simultaneous translation of the speech in Arabic to audiences in the Middle East and North Africa, with reports from correspondents at the White House and Congress.
In addition to Sen. Flake, Alhurra interviewed Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA), Congressmen Jim McDermott (D-WA), Peter DeFazio (D-OR) and Keith Ellison (D-MN).
