VOA on Assignment at the Nuclear Talks with Iran in Vienna
As the final deadline approaches for a nuclear deal with Iran, VOA Persian is presenting a series of new programs discussing and analyzing the tough issues under negotiation.
On Tuesday, June 30, VOA Persian Director Setareh Derakhshesh will host an one-hour TV Special from Vienna, Austria, in collaboration with her counterparts from Deutsche Welle Persian, BBC Persian, Radio France International Persian and Radio Farda, appearing live from their respective studios in Bonn, London, Paris and Prague. Coverage will be enhanced with contributions from VOA’s special correspondents in Baghdad and Tel Aviv for live reporting on expectations and reactions to the talks from the Arab world and Israel.
On July 1, VOA Persian will present a second TV special hosted from Washington with contributions from VOA reporters from Vienna, Jerusalem, Irbil, and New York.
Additionally the Service is enhancing its daily output with a series of live 5-minute TV News bulletins, via satellite, at the top of every hour, from 8:00 am until 1:00 am Tehran time.
VOA’s State Department Correspondent Pam Dockins and Cairo Correspondent Heather Murdock are reporting from Vienna. In an interview with Dockins, State Department Senior Advisor for Strategic Communications Marie Harf, said, “We have some really tough work still left to do,” adding that Secretary Kerry and the Iranians understand that they have reached a critical moment.
