TV Martí reporter nominated for local Emmy
Television Martí reporter Karen Caballero and her team were nominated for a 2016 Suncoast Regional Emmy Award from The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) for their work on La Vida Por el Arte, en Libertad, in the best Human Interest Program category of the 40th annual awards competition. Others contributing to the production were Tatiana Riquelme, Rodolfo Hernandez, Caridad Rubido, Rene Lopez, and Ignacio Gonzalez.
La Vida Por el Arte, en Libertad is a profile of Cuban graffiti artist and dissident Danilo Maldonado, popularly known as “El Sexto,” who was freed from prison after serving nearly 10 months without a trial. Upon his release, El Sexto reaffirmed his commitment to anti-censorship efforts on the island.
