December 1, World AIDS Day
On December 1 every year, the international community unites in the fight against HIV and AIDS, showing support for the people living with HIV and remembering those who have died from the virus. Globally, an estimated 34 million people have HIV and more than 35 million people have died of HIV or AIDS, making it one of the most destructive pandemics in history.
The BBG joins the fight against HIV and AIDS by providing access to vital information and news to those who need it most. Our networks share information about HIV and AIDs to countries with underserved or restricted media environments. The BBG also hosts health reporting training workshops across the globe, where journalists are taught the necessary skills and given proper resources to report on health issues in their communities.
