Covering Elections: Ghana
VOA organized a training for Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, April 18-28, 2016, on political reporting in advance of Ghana’s presidential elections. Journalists practiced researching, writing, interviewing, production techniques and using social media and mobile technology in election coverage. They discussed ethics and best practices. The workshops were held at Impact Hub Accra, which provides programs, workspace, access to capital and connectivity to budding entrepreneurs.
Key objectives of the training were:
- The role of the media in covering elections
- Accuracy, impartiality and responsibility in election coverage
- Codes of conduct for the media in elections
These workshops were attended by a total of 40 reporters, editors and producers from GBC television, radio and web departments.
