Radio Sawa correspondent honored at the Multicultural Correspondents Dinner
Radio Sawa broadcaster Lamia Rezgui was named International Journalist of the Year at the second annual Multicultural Media Correspondents Dinner on May 25th.
Rezgui is a Tunisian-American who has worked at Radio Sawa since its launch 15 years ago. She is an award-winning broadcaster based in Washington, D.C. and was a key member of the Radio Sawa team that reported from Libya during the civil war. She has also interviewed many world leaders from throughout the Middle East and North Africa. Her work has been recognized by the New York Festivals and she was named the BBG Burke Award winner in 2012 for her work on the front lines in Libya.
The ceremony was held in Washington, D.C. Other honorees included Sirius XM’s Joe Madison; Fox News’ Juan Williams, movie director Robert Rodriguez and National Newspaper Publishers Association’s Dr. Ben Chavis. The Multicultural Media Correspondent Dinner was created in 2016 to honor and salute luminaries and highlight the need for greater diversity in telecommunications and the media.
