Malawi: Investigative journalism
Journalists were introduced to the main concepts of investigative journalism and trained to incorporate it into their work. The sessions helped Journalists to understand the role of investigative reporting by practicing skills and techniques, developing sources, conducting research and interviews, using public records, and examining legal issues surrounding confidentiality.
The training session focused on interactive practice, encouraging participants to conduct discussions and sharing their own experiences with political sessions. Later, participants were asked to come up with their own investigative projects and present results in the workshop.
The course allowed participants to download secure messaging services to chat with their sources and also download Dropbox on their laptops to store their information. To wrap up, participants were given advice on encryption tools they could use from basic to advance.
