Exclusive: Venezuela opposition leader visits OCB
Venezuelan opposition leader Antonio José Ledezma, who had been under house arrest since 2015 and last month managed to escape across the border to Colombia, visited the Office of Cuba Broadcasting for a worldwide exclusive interview with Alejandro Marcano Santelli, host of TV Martí’s “Venezuela en Crisis.”
At the end of the interview Ledezma was surprised with a visit by his daughter Daniela Schadendorf was brought onto the set in an emotional reunion with her father after a two-year absence.
Ledezma, the 62-year-old former Caracas metropolitan mayor and well-known detained opponent of leftist President Nicolás Maduro, had organized street protests against the Venezuelan regime in 2014 that led to months of violence and 43 deaths.
When asked about the loss of life and the humanitarian crisis gripping his country, Ledezma stated, “We can’t give up or give in, this is the moment to maintain very firmly faith, hope and the will to undertake any risk to liberate Venezuela.”
