Ukraine: The building blocks for reporting a good story
In this workshop led by BBG/Radio Svoboda journalists in Kyiv, 25 Ukrainian television journalists, primarily from the conflict-riddled East, focused on interviewing techniques and moderating discussions. They developed engaging stories through text, pictures, audio, and video. In addition, 100 journalists from National Public TV across Ukraine participated in the workshop via a Facebook closed group live streaming.
Among the discussion topics: Why is it important to practice ethical journalism? How to stay safe when on assignment in a conflict zone? How to get verified and objective information? What are content formats and platforms that inform and engage an audience? How to research and find themes and sources for stories? What can Ukrainian journalists learn from international journalists? Trainers facilitated journalists’ on-camera mock interviews and guided them in moderating discussions, hosting TV shows, fielding questions, and engaging audience.
