Germany: Media literacy workshop
A third media literacy workshop, part of the Media Against Hate campaign, took place in Hamburg Nov. 23-24, 2017 in advance of the Conference on Migration and Media Awareness. Case studies examined women empowerment through community radio in Mozambique and Laos. Training focused on strategies and skills needed to create hate-free media environments. Journalists, media producers and NGO representatives from all over Europe exchanged best practices on prevention of hate speech and discrimination against women, refugees and migrants. Trainees then joined the Conference on Migration and Media Awareness alongside 200 international participants from civil society, institutions and media. The conference was hosted by Refugee Radio Awareness Network.
