CEO’s statement on RFE/RL journalists killed in Kabul suicide bombings
Today, we received the worst news imaginable – two journalists from Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty were killed in a horrific and brutal attack in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Just days before World Press Freedom Day, journalists were targeted for their role in gathering and reporting unbiased news and information to the people of Afghanistan.
We grieve their loss and will honor their dedication and commitment to their community. And as I am sure they would wish, we will not let this stop our pursuit of the truth in Afghanistan and everywhere where the press is suppressed.
To the family, friends, and colleagues of these brave journalists, we send condolences, comfort and strength. And to the people of Afghanistan, we send our promise that we will continue to do all we can to bring you the truth.
