Bashar Fahmi
Surrealism was an 20th century artistic movement that was best known for visual juxtapositions of uncommon imagery. Artist Steve Fuchs has used this technique to illustrate the dilemma of Bashar Fahmi, who disappeared in Aleppo, leaving his family uncertain about his fate and with more questions than answers. It also illustrates that at any given time dozens of men and women are in conflict zones around the world and face the very real possibility of death, or disappearing without a trace.
