Latin America: World Press Freedom Day Forum
To mark the significance of the World Press Freedom Day, the US Agency for Global Media and the Francisco de Paula Santander University (UFPS) in Colombia, organized an open forum on the importance of freedom of expression, press freedom laws, access to information, and safety of journalists in the digital world.
With more than 76 participants from Latin America, the debate affirmed the importance of protecting the freedom of expression to preserve democracy in the region.
The activity took place on May 3 to celebrate World Press Freedom Day and also served to pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the exercise of their profession.
