Almigdad Mojalli
Andy Warhol was famous for his portraits of movie stars that consisted of multiple prints in a single artwork. This had the quality of illustrating famous people as a commercial commodity. But Warhol made sure that each printed image, done in a process that should have made the images identical, was flawed, subverting the mass-market effect.
The image of Almigdad Mojalli persists in hundreds of hours of broadcast video. A journalist produces a body of work on schedule and their work becomes anticipated and even welcome, until they are taken away in an untimely manner.
This work counts on a repeated image be predictable and anticipated, like a news report, until it abruptly fades and ends.
