Washington, D.C. — Voice of America’s film, “A Day in the Life of Refugees,” received the Best Film Award in the Refugee Challengescategory at the 2022 Aravali International Film Festival.

The documentary explores the impact of forced displacement on individuals and families, as well as on their destination countries, governments and others with whom the displaced encounter on their journeys.

This 96-minute film, narrated by VOA contributor and veteran journalist Greta Van Susteren, took two years to complete, beginning on June 20, 2019, that year’s World Refugee Day. More than 75 teams of VOA visual journalists in more than 30 countries documented the unique challenges of forced displacement around the world on that single day.

The Aravali International Film Festival, named after the Aravali Mountain range in northwestern India, aims to capture the cultural diversity of its namesake region through international cinema.
