Report details USAGM’s impact on the global demand for truth
Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Agency for Global Media released its annual report today, detailing the work accomplished in 2022 and the impact that work has had on audiences in media-repressed environments.
Each USAGM entity — Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/ Radio Liberty, the Office of Cuba Broadcasting, Radio Free Asia, and the Middle East Broadcasting Networks with the support of the Open Technology Fund — fulfills distinct roles in their respective markets. This report illustrates how together they overcame censorship attempts and safety threats to deliver news to 410 million people. This work included covering crisis situations, such as the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the widespread protests in Iran, China, and Russia, and the worsening situation in Afghanistan following the fall of Kabul.
