RFA special report on Myanmar crisis wins National Murrow Award
“Congratulations to RFA Burmese and our Investigative and Creative Teams for this prestigious recognition,” said RFA Acting Executive Editor Mat Pennington. “Through incisive reporting and visual storytelling, their powerful report illuminates the devastating impact of continuous conflict on civilian life. This award speaks to their steadfast journalism and I couldn’t be prouder of their work.”
RFA’s winning report, which was published in Burmese and English and released on the two-year anniversary of the February 2021 coup, depicts the horrors inflicted on Myanmar civilians since the military seized control from an elected government. The report tells of the human toll of Myanmar’s civil war through data, personal stories and powerful imagery.
The winners will be honored at the Edward R. Murrow Awards Gala at Gotham Hall in New York City on Oct. 14. Launched in 1971, the Edward R. Murrow Awards honor outstanding achievements in digital and broadcast journalism.
