New audiences in new media
Thirty-two journalists from ten Voice of America (VOA) affiliates in El Salvador participated in an intensive digital media best practices workshop. The four-hour session, organized in collaboration between the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) and the Association of Radio Broadcasters of El Salvador (ASDER), was led by USAGM marketing expert Iscar Blanco and conducted entirely in Spanish. Participants discussed optimizing content for social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Key topics included assessing each station’s specific needs—such as equipment requirements and audience analysis—and developing strategies to create compelling, targeted content that resonates with their audiences.
