Governor Ashe Visits RFA Staff in Bangkok

Staff and journalists at Radio Free Asia were visited by BBG Governor Victor Ashe yesterday at the Thailand offices in Bangkok.
Governor Ashe, who serves as vice chairman of the board of RFA, stopped by during a personal trip to the region to express his thanks for their hard work and dedication.
During the visit Governor Ashe spoke with RFA Lao and Vietnamese journalists about the issues they are covering, the obstacles they encounter, and the strategies they use to report in difficult environments.
RFA’s officer manager Pimuk Rakkanam said that Governor Ashe’s moral support was “invaluable.”
While in Bangkok, Governor Ashe also met with IBB Regional Marketing Officer Birgit Berg and VOA editor Barry Newhouse. His visit to Thailand comes on the heels of a stop in Phnom Penh where he joined RFA President Libby Liu in a meeting with RFA’s journalists there.
