Alhurra TV and Radio Sawa Highlight the Global Entrepreneurship Summit
Alhurra and Radio Sawa provided extensive coverage of the 5th Global Entrepreneurship Summit held in Morocco. The three-day summit was held in late November, and Alhurra was the only Arabic-language channel that took Vice President Biden’s speech live with translation. During the keynote speech Vice President Biden stated, “When I travel the region and the entire developing world, I see young people with limitless promise make not only their countries but the whole world better….And the opportunities out there for entrepreneurship have never been greater than they are right now.” The network also interviewed Alina Romanowski, USAID’s Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Middle East Bureau, about the Entrepreneurship Summit and broadcast the Layalina series Generation Entrepreneur, in which young Arab entrepreneurs compete for funding to start their own companies.
Leading up to the Summit, Alhurra interviewed the U.S. Ambassador to Morocco Dwight Bush Sr. about the opportunities being presented to young people. Alhurra.com shed light on U.S. government programs that promote economic and social entrepreneurship around the world, and it looked at how the U.S. is committed to fostering entrepreneurship, innovation and economic prosperity.
Radio Sawa’s Sawa Magazine interviewed participating entrepreneurs about their experiences and what they learned. Another episode of Sawa Magazine focused on the role of female entrepreneurs around the world. Radio Sawa’s popular call-in feature Sawa Chat included several discussion topics tied to the summit. The radio networked encouraged listeners to speak out about how modern technology can help small businesses, the role of business owners in society, the biggest challenges facing business owners and what business the listeners would like to open.
Radio Sawa’s Free Zone dedicated an episode to technological innovators across the Middle East and how young people are looking to change society in peaceful and creative ways through innovations.
