Omar Al Obaidi attacked by ISIL
Alhurra-Iraq’s Omar Al Obaidi was traveling through Iraq’s Anbar province to report on Iraqi military activity in Ramadi, when he and his cameraman when approximately 40 ISIL militia appeared firing rifles into the air. They were soon surrounded by ISIL militia. The militia accused Omar of working for the Iraqi police or army, they smashed the video camera and kicked and slapped Omar and the cameraman. After a few minutes, approximately 100 members Iraqi police arrived and fired on the ISIL militia. The ISIL members retreated to nearby building and Omar and the cameraman jumped into the car to escape. As they were driving away, a member of ISIL fired a rifle and struck Omar’s car. Both Omar and the cameraman suffered minor injuries.
