Beating of RFA Vietnamese contractor
A contractor in Vietnam with Radio Free Asia’s Vietnamese Service was beaten by police. Police confiscated the contractor’s equipment, including his mobile phone and camera. Prior to being hired by RFA, the journalist shared video with the Vietnamese Service as a citizen journalist of the mass protests in Vietnam in the wake of a chemical spill that killed tons of fish, devastating fishing communities along the country’s central coast. Since the November incident, the contractor has continued to work for RFA.
