What we buy
As a federal agency, we acquire through contracts, agreements, leases, and government purchase cards all the supplies, equipment and services vital to the operation of any federal agency, such as office equipment and supplies, furniture, information technology services and hardware, telecommunications services, facilities services, professional consulting services, and business administration services, to name a few.
In addition to these, due to the nature of our unique journalistic and media-related mission, we procure many services uncommon to other agencies. Examples of these include overseas residential and commercial leases, broadcast licenses, broadcast transmission leases, content placement agreements, acquired programming agreements, affiliate agreements, leases for antenna site locations, contracts with individuals for overseas “stringer” and “fixer” services, contracts with individuals possessing specialized journalistic skills and native fluency in our target languages, and news wire services, in addition to others.
