RFE/RL reporter wins 2016 Triumph Award
RFE/RL Ukrainian Service Reporter Mykhailo Tkach was awarded the Triumph Award in the category “Best Reporter of 2016.”
Tkach was recognized for his work on the investigative program Schemes: Corruption in details, a joint project of RFE/RL Ukrainian Service and local Ukrainian channel UA First which works to uncover corruption and shady dealings among Ukrainian politicians.
His submission to the competition was a Schemes episode called “Kolomoisky returns” about the former head of Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region and oligarch, Igor Kolomoisky, who returned to his home country after nearly half a year of absence and in the midst of a political crisis linked to the resignation of Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
