COO André Mendes recognized as top global executive
Washington, D.C. — U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) Chief Operating Officer André Mendes was recently named a member of the elite Constellation Research’s 2021 Business Transformation 150 (BT150) cohort.
Every year, Constellation Research, a technology research and advisory firm based in Silicon Valley, publishes a list of the year’s top global executives who are leading business transformation efforts in their organizations. The selection process is driven by nominations from peers, vendors, analysts, industry influencers, and technology vendors.
“I am honored and delighted to receive this award and to be included among such esteemed company,” said Mendes. “But the achievement for which I am being recognized is not mine alone. I continue to pay my debt of gratitude to both the United States, my adopted country that has provided so much opportunity, and to its citizens. They welcomed me with open arms back in 1979, and their generosity has never ceased.”
Last month, USAGM CEO Michael Pack chose Mendes to serve as the agency’s first COO. Previously, Mendes served as the agency’s Chief Information Officer/Chief Technology Officer, overseeing all aspects of information technology, infrastructure support, and global content distribution services.
Mendes also served, among other roles, as the Interim CEO and Director of the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG); Acting Director of the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (OCB); Acting Chief Financial Officer (BBG), Director of Global Operations (BBG); Director of the Office of Technology, Services and Innovation; Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning and Global CIO for Special Olympics International; and Chief Technology Integration Officer for the Public Broadcasting Service.
