Edward E. Kaufman Re-Appointed to the Broadcasting Board of Governors
Edward E. Kaufman of Wilmington, Del., has been re-appointed to a three-year term on the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), the bipartisan, nine-member board which supervises all U.S. international, nonmilitary broadcasting.
The Senate confirmed Kaufman, who was nominated by President George W. Bush. Kaufman, who was first appointed to the board by then-President Clinton, has served as a Governor since the BBG was created in 1995.
“I’m honored to be able to continue my service on the BBG,” Kaufman said. “U.S. international broadcasting continues to be vitally important, particularly in places like China where the people cannot get accurate, objective news and information.” Kaufman is chairman of the BBG’s China Committee, among other positions he holds on the board.
Kaufman is President of Public Strategies, a political and management consulting firm based in Wilmington, Delaware. Since 1991, he has been a Senior Lecturing Fellow at Duke University, teaching in The School of Law, Fuqua School of Business, and The Sanford Institute of Public Policy. He is Co-Chair of the Duke University School of Law’s Center for the Study of the Congress.
Kaufman is a trustee of the Christiana Care Corporation and a member of the Board of Directors of Children and Families First and WHYY. He is formerly Chief of Staff to Joseph R. Biden, Jr. (D-DE).
The BBG is an independent federal agency which supervises all U.S. government-supported non-military international broadcasting, including the Voice of America (VOA), Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL); the Middle Television Network (Alhurra); Radio Free Asia (RFA); Office of Cuban Broadcasting (Radio and TV Mart
