Springfield, Va. — Alhurra’s Creative Services team won the gold at the international Cannes Corporate Media and TV Awards 2021 for its augmented reality production depicting the U.S. Capitol. The video was part of Alhurra’s 2020 U.S. election coverage and illustrates the role of Congress and the importance of checks and balances in the U.S. government. The video won in the History and Personality/Portraits category. The network’s augmented reality video describing the U.S. elections was a finalist in the same category.

“The augmented reality videos created by the Creative Services team was an important part of Alhurra Television’s extensive coverage of the 2020 U.S. elections. This talented group developed a way to explain the U.S. electoral system that was easy to comprehend. Beyond showing who was running for office, we wanted to make sure our audiences across the region understood what each of these races represented and how the different offices worked together. The augmented reality series was a key part of doing that,” stated Acting Middle East Broadcasting Networks (MBN) President Hassan Shwiki. MBN manages and oversees Alhurra Television.

The Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards annually honor the world’s finest corporate films, online media productions and documentaries in one of the most important film centers: in Cannes, France. The success of the festival is due to the prestigious participants, innovative and qualitative works, prominent jury members (e.g. Oscar and Emmy winners) and participating countries from all continents. This year the Cannes Awards included nearly 900 entries.
