2022 Press Freedom Film Festival
The U.S. Agency for Global Media invites you to participate in its third annual USAGM Press Freedom Film Festival from April 29 – June 3, 2022
In celebration of World Press Freedom Day, the free online festival showcases documentaries from USAGM’s five public service broadcasting networks and explores the media environments in which these networks operate.
With opening remarks from:
Kelu Chao, Acting Chief Executive Officer, USAGM
Representatives Adam Schiff (D-CA) and Steve Chabot (R-OH), of the Freedom of the Press Caucus
The festival aims to educate audiences on the importance of press freedom around the world and provide them with a better understanding of the kind of products USAGM’s networks create, as well as an inside look at the media environments in which they operate and the challenges they face reporting in these regions.
Each week, throughout the month of May, a new film will be screened online and accompanied by a live chat with background on the target country’s media environment and press freedom trends, behind-the-scenes anecdotes, and further information on the network and the filmmakers. The screenings will also be followed by a conversation with the directors and journalists involved in making the films.
Films and the directors’ chats will be available weekly beginning on April 29, 2022, at 7:00 p.m.
