Alhurra’s AR production wins Silver at Cannes
Springfield, Va. — Alhurra Television’s augmented reality production depicting the impending environmental disaster of the Safer oil tanker off the Yemeni coast was presented with the Silver Medal at the 2022 Cannes Corporate Media and TV Awards today. It won in the Environmental, Ecology and Sustainability category.
The video provided viewers with a first-hand look at the challenges and potential hazards facing the Red Sea if the Safer ship starts to leak. The augmented reality was created by seamlessly integrating animation with a physical set and a host.
“MBN’s Creative Services team is producing exceptional augmented reality videos. These videos give viewers a more illustrative and visual way to understand complex news stories,” stated Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) Acting President Hassan Shwiki. MBN oversees and manages Alhurra Television. “This talented group has won many awards this past few years for their creative and enlightening work that explains events happening worldwide in a visually impactful way.”
Earlier this year, the Safer ship video was awarded the Silver Medal at the New York Festivals-TV and Film Awards for Best Use of Special effects.
The Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards honor the world’s finest corporate films, online media productions and documentaries. This year, the international Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards received an estimated 800 submissions from over 40 countries.
