MBN takes the Gold at the New York Festivals
Springfield, Va. — The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) won two gold and three bronze medals at the New York Festivals TV and Film awards, it was announced at a ceremony on April 18th. The New York Festivals is an international media competition with global entries representing more than 35 countries.
Alhurra’s augmented reality production highlighting the evolution of cars throughout history and the move to electric vehicles won gold for Best Visual Effects. Alhurra Television’s promo commemorating Sawa Radio’s 20th anniversary won gold in the Best Station/Image Promotion.
MBN was also awarded three bronze medals during the ceremony. An Alhurra Investigates two-part episode on the ongoing Yezidi tragedy nearly 10 years after ISIS swept through Iraq was recognized for Best Human Concerns Documentary. Irfasaawtak.com’s (Raise Your Voice) profile of Adiba Barney, a female refugee diagnosed with terminal cancer, won bronze for Best Heroes News Feature. Now, 15 years later, Adiba shares how she has overcome those obstacles and is now a mother and a cancer advocate. The third bronze medal was won in the category of Best Promotional Presentation for MBN’s recap of the 2022 U.S. midterm elections.

Additionally, MBN’s podcast “Chapters” was a finalist in the New York Festivals Radio competition for its profile of Maharajan music in Egypt. The profile of the new generation of musicians was a finalist in the Best Music Podcast category.
The New York Festivals Awards celebrates innovative storytelling from around the globe and honors content creators whose compelling programs reach international audiences. The competition’s 65-year legacy provides a showcase of exceptional work across all genres of entertainment media.
