VOA journalists take home four Peter Lisagor Awards
Washington, D.C. — Voice of America journalists won four 2024 Peter Lisagor Awards from the Chicago Headline Club, the Chicago chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
VOA Midwest correspondent Kane Farabaugh earned three awards at this year’s ceremony held on May 10 in Chicago. Farabaugh won in the categories of Best Investigative Reporting for the television segment “Lawmakers Seek to Curb Chinese Purchases of US Farmland;” Best Political and Government Reporting for “Illinois’ First Muslim American Lawmakers Begin Work in Diverse Legislature”; and Best Community Reporting for “Migrant Surge Overwhelms Chicago.” In addition, Farabaugh and VOA videographer Adam Greenbaum together won an award in the Best Business Reporting category for the television segment “The War in Ukraine Comes Home to Farms in Illinois.”
“The coverage recognized by Chicago’s Headline Club are great examples of how VOA fulfills its mission to tell America’s story,” said VOA Acting Director John Lippman. “We congratulate Kane and Adam on receiving this recognition.”
