The webinar “Ethical Use of AI in Journalism” focused on exploring the latest AI technologies and their applications in journalism. At the moment, the media and tech space is flooded with many AI-powered tools that are essentially the same models with new packaging. Navigating the rapidly growing number of apps and plugins can be daunting. Through the 3-hour webinar, the expert trainers introduced journalists and media professionals from all over Indonesia to over 5 tools to try and understand which ones can be helpful in their work. Factors like accuracy and ethics were also evaluated. With so much hype surrounding AI tools, it’s essential to consider whether they can truly deliver on their promises. The training aimed to equip journalists with the skills to critically evaluate AI tools and determine when it’s ethical to use them.  After the webinar, participants had a deeper understanding of AI which they will bring back to their newsrooms and colleagues.
