Rep. Dan Burton appears on VOA’s “Café D.C.”
VOA’s Café D.C. host, Urdu Service Chief Faiz Rehman, speaks with Congressman Dan Burton (R-Ind) on this week’s show.
Congressman Burton discusses his reasons for retiring, and also opens up about his troubled childhood.
The Congressman also talks about his view on the relationship between Pakistan and the U.S. He is a co-founder of the Pakistani Caucus and sees Pakistan as an important ally. He believes that it is pertinent for the two countries to maintain strong ties, but also notes that better communication and more exchanges between the countries’ legislators could help to improve the relationship.
In addition to this, Congressman Burton speaks of his position as the former Chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. He notes the importance of accountability concerning the recent events involving the General Services Administration and the Secret Service.
