New BBG/Gallup Research: Iran Media Use 2012
[wptabs style=”wpui-light” mode=”horizontal”][wptabtitle]Details[/wptabtitle][wptabcontent]The Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) and Gallup have released the findings of the inaugural BBG Research Series briefing, Iran Media Use 2012. The findings show how Iranians use television, radio, and digital media. For example, 39% of adults in Iran report using the Internet in the previous week. These results, based on telephone surveys that Gallup conducted in 2012, provide insights into Iranians’ media wants and needs.

The BBG unveiled the findings about how Iranians use television, radio, and digital media at the inaugural event of the BBG Research Series, which is conducted in partnership with Gallup. “The series aims to broaden public understanding of media in the generally closed societies targeted by the BBG by sharing research data funded with taxpayer dollars and largely unavailable through commercial sources,” noted Bruce Sherman, director of strategy and development for the BBG. The ability of the media to report freely and accurately is critical in world affairs. Additionally, it is important for leaders and policy makers to understand how different populations around the globe view the quality, honesty and accuracy of their media, as well as how free they perceive their media to be.
