Alhurra-Iraq’s ‘From Erbil’ opens an eye on Kurdistan
Alhurra-Iraq announces the launch of a new program From Erbil, which reports from the streets of Kurdistan and focuses on the plurality of Iraq, discussing topics that are important to all Iraqis. It sheds light on issues that affect people living in the province, such as human and minorities rights, violence against women, unemployment and problems in the agriculture and tourism sectors. From Erbil airs every Saturday at 5:30 p.m. Baghdad time and is the latest program from the Raise Your Voice campaign.
VOA story cited in special UN human rights report
One of two Voice of America exclusive stories by reporter Eun Jung Cho covering abusive practices against North Korean workers in Qatar was cited in a special United Nations human rights report, and focuses fresh attention on North Korea’s mistreatment of its civilian workforce. The story cites a meeting between North Korean officials and Qatar’s Construction Development Company (CDC) in which the construction company fired nearly half its North Korean workers, as a result of their supervisors’ repeated violations of Qatar labor laws.
